BSNL DataOne Broadband Unlimited Plan - MCU Charges/Pulse Explained

What is the MCU Charges/Pulse ?
MCU stands for Metered Call Unit.
For BSNL's DataOne Broadband Unlimited Plan users, the voice calls will be charged Rs 1.00/- per unit. It is nothing to do with internet data transfer. Internet usage is 100% free. Only voice calls are charged.
The good news is, for users of Unlimited DataOne plan, there is no additional rental for their phone.
In brief, for Rs 900/- you get a rent free landline connection + unlimited broadband. ( Eg : Now if you are paying Rs 180/- as landline rental, put additional Rs 720/- and get unlimited broadband connection).
The plan is applicable only for home users. The speed will be 256Kbps.

on 14NOV i changed my Bsnl plan from 500( 1GB limite) to UL 900 Plus. They kept me in 500 plan till 29 Nov & converted me to unlimited on 30 Nov. Now for November i have received bill of r.14000/- Are they right in doing so cause in the form for changing plan it was written that whatever scheme u change the rental will be effective from the 1st of the month?

Someone please do comment about this.

Well, penfriends, they are absolutely right! But you had been ignorant. They wont change the scheme in running month, obviously they meant NEXT billing cycle.

You can avail your unlimited internet from this month, but you will have to pay for what you have used in the previous month.

Hello Sirs, I have started my UL 900+ plan two days ago. i have got average 30 kbps only for download. webpage also opens very slowly. My question is :
1. in UnLtd. Plan one should only Get like this type of speed ? or there is some problem in my connection. (i have P IV HT 3.0 Ghz, 1 GB ram, Orignal Intel motherboard with WinXP-SP-2)
2. When stated that UL users have speed of 256 kbps. Is it begining of data transfer rate or minimul speed for data transfer ? Application Form stated that UL users may use speed from 256 kbps to 2 Mbps.
I Live in Ahmedabad Gujarat.
Please Sir slove my Query i am very very much thankful to u.

Hi, Masooque

this 30kb/s speed that you are talking about, are you reading this out of the download window where it displays the speed at which you are downloading a given file?

If yes! then its 30KB/s with a capital 'B'.......which means it is in Bytes, which further means that you are pretty much getting what you've been promised as per the tariff enrolled.

Let me explain, If we effectively convert this 30KB/s(taken from the download window), that is if we multiply this 30 into 8 Which equals 240 which means you are getting an effective download speed of 240kb/s. which is pretty much justifiable as per your tariff plan which promises 256kb/s

Info:
A Lot of us don't know that the broadband speeds offered by ISP's is mentioned in 'bits/sec' or 'kilo bits/sec', which means you need to divide this speed offered, with 8 to get the actual or effective speeds comparable to the file sizes that we download< which are in Bytes and not bits.

Let me make it simpler. Say If you opt for a 2Mbps plan. as per the common misconceptions of a non-technical or a nascent user it should take just 5second to download a file of 10MB, Right?

Which is not the case in practice!!!.......bcos when you compare this practically it takes much longer. that is bcos of the precise explanation given above.

2Mbps/8 = 256KB/s which further adds to 40 sec to download a 10MB file. provided you don't have any clogs along the download path(your system to the host system) and is perfectly clear and dedicated only to your download query!!!

Hope you got the point?

I had taken Bsnl dataone 250 plan january from this year. I have only incoming phone facility. My monthly bill use to come in the range of Rs 300-400. But suddenly for the month of April I have received a bill of more than Rs 11000. In the month of April I tried on several occasion to check my usage through "bbservice.bsnl.in", but it always shows that the records were not available. Yesterday 17th May when I check my usage it showed I had used 12 GB in April. Since getting connection in january this year I had changed my password only once in january.

Is there any possibility that someone or from different phone connection can misuse my account?

How can I get details of the sites that have been visited through my account?

I would like to dispute this current bill. How and where can I complain this?

kindly someone help.
